Pitch 1

Explanation: This story will explore the recent trend in Americans showing an interest in the Japanese cartoons known as anime. As part of the explanation, there will also be a comparison of Japanese culture with American culture.

Evidence: The first anime company in America came around in 1992, and ten years later, there were more than 20. Newer evidence not readily available, but growth has spurred from the success of Americanized version Pokemon and similar shows.

Why now: The cosplay industry has grown around the world, and a noticeable portion of Americans are showing an interest in Japanese culture, some becoming completely enthralled in it.

Interviews: Chris Fahlin talked about his experiences with anime, and how it inspired him to pursue learning Japanese as a language. Other interviews with a friend of a friend (Alex), and a to-be-named source.
